A Miraculous Crossover: Aikatsu Stars! and Magical Sisters Lulutto Lily Team Up for Special 'Animal Carnival' MV

A dream collaboration between 'Yuzutto Lily,' the beloved duo from the hit anime series Aikatsu Stars!, and Studio Pierrot's latest magical girl project Magical Sisters Lulutto Lily has officially come to life, sparking widespread excitement across social media platforms.

As part of this cross-franchise project, a special music video was released featuring the characters performing a collaborative rendition of the iconic Aikatsu Stars! track 'Animal Carnival.' The vocal cast includes Mei Tachibana as Konpeto Lily and Nao Kojika as Mashu Lulu from Magical Sisters Lulutto Lily, joined by Kana (from AIKATSU☆STARS!) providing the singing voice for Yuzu Nikaido, and Nanase (from AIKATSU☆STARS!) providing the singing voice for Lily Shirogane.

While crossing franchise boundaries is rare, fans had previously pointed out the clever phonetic harmony and wordplay shared between the duo's unit name 'Yuzutto Lily' and the anime title 'Lulutto Lily.' Following the surprise release, social media was flooded with astonishment and praise, with comments such as, 'I can't believe a wordplay connection actually brought this to life!' and 'This is delightfully high-context.'

Attention has also turned to the production details, including costume designs coordinated to match Yuzu Nikaido's signature Premium Rare dress, demonstrating the deep mutual respect between the creative teams. Years after the original broadcast of Aikatsu Stars!, long-time fans expressed overwhelming gratitude for newly recorded vocals and freshly animated visuals, celebrating the unexpected gift in the Reiwa era with trending hashtags and heartfelt appreciation.

The Context

Aikatsu Stars!, which aired from 2016 to 2018, is a prominent installment in Bandai's idol anime and arcade card game franchise, where character dialogue and musical performances are famously performed by different voice artists and dedicated vocalists. Studio Pierrot is renowned as a pioneer of the magical girl anime genre in Japan, with classics such as Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel. The shared 'Lily' name and rhyming cadence between 'Yuzutto Lily' and 'Lulutto Lily' turned what started as an affectionate fan pun into an official, high-quality music video collaboration.
