Around 5:03 PM on November 9, 2025, an earthquake originating off the Sanriku coast occurred, observing a maximum seismic intensity of 4 in Iwate and Miyagi prefectures. Following this earthquake, a tsunami advisory was issued for the Iwate Prefecture coast at 5:12 PM, with a maximum tsunami height of 1 meter anticipated.
