The context

Founded in 1913, the Takarazuka Revue is an iconic all-female Japanese musical theater company divided into five main troupes (Flower, Moon, Snow, Star, and Cosmos), where actresses play both male (otokoyaku) and female (musagoyaku) roles. Fumi Yoshinaga's award-winning manga Ooku: The Inner Chambers envisions an alternate feudal Japan where a mysterious plague drastically reduces the male population, resulting in a matriarchal society with a female shogun and a male inner harem.
