Nanaha Itose Cast as Mysterious Shark-Motif Character in Upcoming Tokusatsu Series "Kakusei Hunter Omega Horn"

The main cast for TV Asahi's upcoming Tokusatsu action series Kakusei Hunter Omega Horn, scheduled to premiere on July 26, 2026, has been officially announced. Among the star-studded lineup, actress and model Nanaha Itose is generating significant buzz for her casting as the cool and formidable "Giriko of the Wave Slasher."

Itose, who rose to fame as the youngest-ever Grand Prix winner of "2017 Miss Teen Japan" and became a household name as an "Imadoki Girl" on the popular morning show Mezamashi TV, is already well-known to Tokusatsu fans. She previously made a memorable guest appearance in episode 28 of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers as Mizuho Ijuin (who transformed into the monster Kagakuki). News of her returning to the genre in a regular role sparked immediate excitement on social media, with fans commenting, "I'm so happy she's back in Tokusatsu!" and "This is a must-watch!"

Her new character, "Giriko of the Wave Slasher," sports a striking shark-themed visual design and is set to be a powerful, mysterious rival who frequently crosses paths with the main heroes. Fans have already praised her "incredibly strong visual aesthetic" and expressed high hopes for her action scenes.

Kakusei Hunter Omega Horn centers around a unique "Human x Horned Beast" buddy battle dynamic. The series stars rising talents including Sei Narahara in the lead, alongside Shota Kokujou, Shogo Tazuru, and Eito Konishi. Coinciding with the cast announcement, Itose has also launched her official personal social media accounts, where fans can look forward to behind-the-scenes updates. Anticipation is rapidly building ahead of its broadcast debut this summer.

The Context: Tokusatsu, Miss Teen Japan, and "Imadoki Girls"

For readers unfamiliar with Japanese entertainment culture, this announcement touches on several key cultural touchstones. First is "Tokusatsu," a genre of Japanese live-action film or television that makes heavy use of special effects—best known globally through franchises like Godzilla, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Super Sentai (which served as the basis for the West's Power Rangers). Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, in which Nanaha Itose previously guest-starred, is the 46th entry in the long-running Super Sentai series.

Additionally, "Miss Teen Japan" is a highly competitive nationwide beauty pageant for teenagers, often serving as a major stepping stone into the entertainment industry. Winning the Grand Prix at such a young age propelled Itose into the spotlight. Following her win, she became an "Imadoki Girl," a title given to the trendy young presenters on Fuji TV's long-running morning show Mezamashi TV. These presenters introduce the latest food, fashion, and lifestyle trends to millions of viewers daily, making them highly recognizable figures in Japanese pop culture.
