Legendary Game Creator Hideo Kojima Gets His Own Nendoroid Figure

Hideo Kojima, the world-renowned game creator and head of Kojima Productions, is set to be immortalized as a figure in the popular chibi-style "Nendoroid" series, sparking major buzz online. The painted prototype of the figure was unveiled for the first time at the "Good Smile Fes 2026" event held on June 6, 2026.

The revealed figure features Kojima wearing a shirt adorned with "Ludens," the iconic mascot of Kojima Productions. It also comes with special wrist parts to recreate his signature pose—standing with his hands shoved in his pockets—showcasing an attention to detail that fans are sure to appreciate.

Following this shocking announcement, social media was flooded with surprise and excitement, with fans commenting, "This is too unexpected!" "A Hideo Kojima Nendoroid is hilarious," and "I absolutely need this!" Many fans also expressed their excitement about displaying him alongside characters from his own games, writing, "I want to display him next to Sam from Death Stranding and Big Boss from Metal Gear."

Furthermore, this highly unusual move of turning a real-life creator into a Nendoroid has sparked anticipation for the future. Some users noted, "This makes me hope we'll see Nendoroids of other game creators and movie directors," suggesting this release could pave the way for a new trend in the figure industry.

The Context: Hideo Kojima and the Nendoroid Phenomenon

Hideo Kojima is one of the most influential figures in the gaming industry, best known as the mastermind behind the groundbreaking Metal Gear franchise and the genre-defying Death Stranding. After leaving Konami in 2015, he established his independent studio, Kojima Productions, which uses the astronaut-like character "Ludens" as its mascot.

The "Nendoroid" series, produced by Good Smile Company, is famous for creating cute, palm-sized, chibi-style figures of popular anime, manga, and video game characters. While real-life celebrities, musicians, and internet personalities have occasionally been turned into Nendoroids, it is extremely rare for a video game director to receive this treatment, cementing Kojima's status as a pop-culture icon.
