Reports of Mass Account Suspensions on X, Focus on Old TweetDeck Users

On the social media platform "X," a wave of reports regarding account "suspensions" has emerged from numerous users. In particular, claims that a large number of users who were utilizing the old version of "TweetDeck" have been suspended are circulating, amplified by the trending keyword "凍結してる" (meaning "being suspended"). This has led to widespread confusion and unrest among X users.

According to user posts, multiple voices suggest, "Probably all users who were using OldTweetDeck have been suspended," strongly indicating that the use of the old TweetDeck might be the cause of the suspensions. There are also mentions like, "Everyone knowledgeable about the internet is being suspended," suggesting that the impact is concentrated among users proficient with specific tools.

The scope of the suspensions is extensive, with reports such as, "Around 20 artists I follow have been suspended," and "If your follower count has suddenly decreased, there's a high probability that your followers have been suspended." Amidst the sudden situation, there are expressions of surprise like, "Is this Siberia?" and "It's incredible how everyone is getting suspended." Numerous reports also name specific users, such as "Wakana-san is suspended again" and "Surume-nii is also suspended."

Furthermore, regarding appeals for suspended accounts, there are complaints about the platform's response, with one user stating, "I've submitted appeals for permanently suspended accounts when I remember, but I don't even get a templated response back." Some users are also reportedly attempting to post information from alternative accounts, with one saying, "I'm suspended, so I'm posting over here."

In response to this situation, some users are issuing warnings like, "It seems to be a Twitter suspension festival right now, so everyone please be careful (though it might be too late to be careful now)." Many users are apprehensive about future developments. Although there has been no official announcement from X management at this time, the community is urgently gathering information and seeking countermeasures.

The Context

TweetDeck is a dashboard application for managing multiple Twitter (now X) accounts, allowing users to view various timelines, manage messages, and schedule posts from a single interface. The "old version" refers to the classic TweetDeck interface that many power users preferred for its functionality and layout, prior to significant changes and its rebranding to "XPro" by X. The trending Japanese phrase "凍結してる" (Tōketsu shiteru) literally means "is being suspended" or "is frozen," and it became a widely used hashtag to report and discuss account suspensions in real-time. This incident highlights ongoing concerns among X users regarding account security, content moderation policies, and the perceived lack of responsiveness from platform support, especially following the rebranding and policy shifts implemented under Elon Musk's ownership.
