Komeito Leader Tetsuo Saito Faces New Allegation Over Condo Sale While Minister

A new allegation has surfaced and is causing a stir: Komeito leader Tetsuo Saito (73) sold a condominium while serving as Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. According to a report by Shukan Bunshun, the transaction is pointed out as potentially violating the 'Ministerial Code,' although Saito's office maintains it has 'no recognition of a violation.'

This allegation quickly spread across social media, with many users quoting the Bunshun Online article and raising questions about Saito's explanation. Comments expressing opposition to the office's use of the word 'recognition' included, 'It's not about 'recognition' that it doesn't violate the code lol.' Other users pointed out a discrepancy with Komeito's touted clean image, stating, 'He's not clean at all. His excuses are weak.'

Furthermore, this latest allegation is drawing concentrated criticism, especially when viewed against Komeito's history of taking a strict stance on 'politics and money' issues. Sarcastic comments like 'Go Komeito, so strict on political money issues (lol)' and questions of double standards such as, 'Is this a pattern where they acted high and mighty towards the LDP, but he himself was completely corrupt?' are not uncommon. Some severe opinions have also emerged, including, 'There were also undeclared funds, so he's totally dirty. Resignation is appropriate.'

It is also pointed out that the very act of a person holding the crucial post of Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism selling real estate during their tenure could lead to suspicions of conflicts of interest or doubts about the impartiality of their duties. One user questioned the minister's ethics, saying, 'If it were me, even if it were permissible, I would absolutely not engage in buying or selling while serving as LIT Minister. That's just too foolish.'

The issue has garnered significant public interest, with 'no recognition of a violation' even emerging as a trend word on Yahoo! News. Amidst eroding public trust in politics, Komeito leader Saito and the party are being urged to provide a more detailed explanation regarding the allegation.
