Born in Naka Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Kida graduated from Keio University's Faculty of Economics. After working for a trading company, he devoted himself to writing. His areas of activity were exceptionally broad, encompassing literary criticism, media criticism, novels, translations, creation of fantasy literature, and research into modern Japanese history. His encyclopedic knowledge and deep insights captivated many readers.
