New Trend on X: Users Ask AI to Profile 'Real Personas' from Their Posts

In recent years, the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) has been remarkable, with its capabilities spanning a wide range of fields. Particularly on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), a new trend is rapidly spreading where users are having AI profile 'real person personas' based on their own posts.

Many users are calling on X's AI feature, 'Grok,' to 'imagine and tell me the real persona from this account's posts,' seeking detailed information extraction. The range of questions is diverse, from basic personal information such as age, gender, occupation, annual income, place of residence, and family structure, to extremely personal information like hobbies, thoughts, personality, and even 'favorite idols/characters' (oshi), 'sexual preferences' (seiheki), real name, favorite food, height, weight, and suitable colors.

As an example of a profile generated by Grok, responses included: 'Gender: Female (from cute phrasing and anime-style expressions), Age: Early 20s (from playful daily posts and love for games), Occupation: Creator or game-related office worker (from enthusiasm for TRPGs and daily activities).' This suggests that the AI is making advanced inferences from users' public information.

Behind this trend, it is believed, lies users' pure curiosity about how accurately AI can read personal information from their digital footprints, as well as a desire to objectively verify their self-perception. It is also gaining attention as a new form of entertainment through interaction with AI.

With the improvement of AI's text analysis capabilities, an era is dawning where detailed individual profiles can be constructed even from fragmented information on social media. On the other hand, discussions regarding privacy and personal information protection may deepen further in the future, concerning how one's digital identity will be interpreted and utilized.

The 'real person persona' profiling can be described as an interesting phenomenon that offers a glimpse into a modern society where AI is permeating our daily lives and beginning to influence how we understand ourselves and others. Attention is focused on how this new form of engagement with AI will bring about changes in future social media communication.

The Context

X, formerly known as Twitter, is a widely used social media platform that allows users to post and interact with short messages. Grok is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by xAI, a company founded by Elon Musk, and is integrated into X's premium subscription tiers (X Premium+). Grok is known for its ability to access real-time information on X, making it a powerful tool for analyzing trends and user content. The concept of "digital footprint" refers to the trail of data left by individuals as they use the internet. While this trend highlights the intriguing capabilities of AI, it also brings to the forefront critical discussions around data privacy and how personal information shared online can be inferred and utilized, raising questions about the boundaries of AI's analytical powers and user consent.
