Popular Sword-Raising Simulation Game “Touken Ranbu ONLINE” Launches New Event “Hihou no Sato ~Hana Atsume no Dan~,” Sparking Enthusiastic Reactions on X
The popular sword-raising simulation game "Touken Ranbu ONLINE" has launched a new event, "Hihou no Sato ~Hana Atsume no Dan~" (Secret Village ~Flower Gathering Arc~), starting today, September 9th. The event has already sparked enthusiastic reactions from "Saniwa" (the game's players) on social media platform "X". This event allows players to obtain the new Touken Danshi (sword boy) "Kurikara Go" and other previously implemented "Go" series Touken Danshi by collecting "Gyoku" (gems). Many Saniwa are already diligently working to gather these gems.
The official operating account announced that the event will run from the end of maintenance on September 9th until 12:59 PM on September 24th, clearly stating the appearance of "Kurikara Go." In response, Saniwa flooded social media with excited posts such as "Waiting for you, Kurikara Go~!", "Time to run!!!!", and "I'm going to welcome Kurikara Go-kun!" expressing their high expectations and determination to acquire the new sword boy.
Due to the nature of the event, some players are jokingly referring to it as "Go no Sato" (Go Village) instead of "Hihou no Sato" (Secret Village), recognizing it as a gathering place for the "Go" series of Touken Danshi. Regarding strategy, advice like "If you plan to fully tackle Hihou no Sato, fill up your event passes first. It makes things easier later" has been shared. Other players are discussing their trial and error with party formations and farming methods, asking questions like "How should I handle auto-farming?", "I don't understand how to maintain cherry blossoms in Hihou no Sato," and expressing frustration such as "Stamina management is a pain." Some Saniwa also realized the official name of the event item, posting "I just learned it's called Gyoku (gems)."
As for difficulty, some players commented, "After Hyakki Yagyō, Hihou no Sato feels really easy," and "Hihou no Sato is quite relaxed~." However, other posts indicated that vigilance is still required, with comments like "My second team of Kiwame Tantou sometimes gets wiped out by Wakizashi units." Additionally, with events running consecutively, some Saniwa expressed concern about player fatigue, saying things like, "Haven't Saniwa been constantly running since Hyakki Yagyō? Are you all okay?" and "We just had an event until noon today, and now Hihou no Sato?"
Many Saniwa are expected to spend the remaining event period striving to acquire Touken Danshi, including "Kurikara Go," and achieve all event rewards.
The Context
"Touken Ranbu ONLINE" is a popular free-to-play browser and mobile game developed by DMM Games and Nitroplus. Launched in 2015, it quickly gained a massive following, particularly among women. In the game, players take on the role of a "Saniwa" (審神者), a master who has the ability to bring famous historical Japanese swords to life as handsome young men, known as "Touken Danshi" (刀剣男士). The Saniwa's mission is to lead these Touken Danshi into battle against the "History Retrograde Army," who seek to alter the past.
Gameplay involves collecting, training, and battling with various Touken Danshi, each representing a real historical sword with unique personalities and designs. Events like "Hihou no Sato" are a common way for players to acquire new or rare Touken Danshi, often by collecting specific event items like "Gyoku." The "Go" (江) series refers to a specific school of swords crafted by the swordsmith Gō Yoshihiro, which are highly sought after by players. The term "Kiwame" refers to an awakened or stronger form of a Touken Danshi. Player comments about managing stamina, "cherry blossom" (a mechanic for increasing stats and morale), and party formations reflect the strategic depth and resource management aspects of the game.
