Nijisanji Unveils New 8-Member VTuber Unit "Y4T4" to Widespread Excitement

VTuber agency Nijisanji has announced the debut of a new 8-member streamer unit, "Y4T4 (Yata)," generating significant buzz, especially on social media. According to the official announcement on April 19, Y4T4's debut stream relay will take place on Day 1: April 21 (Tuesday) from 9:00 PM JST, and Day 2: April 22 (Wednesday) from 9:00 PM JST, with simultaneous broadcasts planned on Twitch and YouTube.

The unit name "Y4T4" is believed to derive from "Yatagarasu," a three-legged crow in Japanese mythology. Fans have pointed out that "4" is a common internet slang for "A," leading to the pronunciation "Yata." Furthermore, given that simultaneous streaming on Twitch and YouTube is a first for Nijisanji, speculation is rife that "Y" might refer to YouTube and "T" to Twitch, with four members potentially assigned to each platform.

This debut marks a large group of eight members, consisting of both male and female talents, and their distinctive names have particularly garnered attention. Unique monikers like "Agedori-san" (Mr. Fried Chicken), "Honetsukiniku-san" (Mr. Bone-in Meat), and "Oyasai-san" (Mr./Ms. Vegetable) quickly became popular among fans in the early stages, sparking comments such as "I already feel the Nijisanji vibe" and "Perhaps they're also meant to be a comedy act." Other members with striking names include "Otora-san" (Mr. Male Tiger) and "Kokonami Iruka-san" (Ms. Small Wave Dolphin), building anticipation for their visuals, voices, and future stream content.

Following the debut stream relay, a series of "Utattemita" (cover song) videos is also slated for release, with the song choices to be announced during the initial streams.
